Choosing a Vessel Glass base

Vessel Glass bases are made in Russia and come with a Russian grommet. With a 45mm neck opening, they fit most Russian-style hookahs. The real choice is the shape and the finish.

The shapes

• Neo Lux: 28cm tall with a 19cm bottom, in finishes such as Matt Black, Gloss Black or Purple.
• Wave: 27cm tall and 22cm wide, with a flowing wave design, also found grooved or in finishes like Purple Smoke.
• Medusa: 27cm tall and 22cm across, with a corrugated pattern all over and rivets set into the grooves, for example in Clear or Marble.
• Craft: 27cm tall and 21cm wide, a restrained flask shape that suits modern shishas, in finishes such as Green Marble.
• Tree: 26cm tall and 21cm wide, with a design all of its own.
• Trigger and Drop: 28cm tall and 18cm wide, the slimmest of the shapes.

Wide or slim?

A wider bottom, like the Wave or Medusa, gives a broad, steady footprint. Taller, narrower shapes such as the Neo Lux or Trigger suit a longer stem. Look at the height of your shisha and pick a base that keeps it in proportion.

Looking after the glass

Rinse the base after each session so limescale doesn't build up, especially in patterned glass like the Medusa. Brushes and cleaners are in cleaning and drying, and spare seals are in grommets and seals. For stems to pair with, browse Russian shishas.
