Stems & Downstems

Replacing a stem or downstem

Stems, downstems and their parts are made for particular hookahs, so first find your model and the exact section you need. Makers name parts differently, which is where most mix-ups happen.

Which part is which?

  • Smoke column: the upper section that carries smoke down from the bowl, for example the Steamulation Carbon Smoke Column Classic/Pro X or the Dschinni Smoke Column Sniper.
  • Water tube: the part that sits in the water. Carbon tubes such as the Steamulation Carbon Tube Classic have stainless steel ends and a carbon middle that makes the hookah noticeably lighter.
  • Downstem with diffuser: the diffuser makes the draw soft and quiet. On Wookah's full-size downstem it is removable, for anyone who likes Wookah's standard sound, while the Mini version has it built in.
  • Stem sections and bases: for instance Japona Wood Upper and Lower Stems, or the Aeon Vyro One Stem Base in a gold or black coating.
  • Legs: Starbuzz Carbine Replacement Legs for Carbine Version 1 and 2, in colours such as White or Mad Dragon, to replace a lost leg or change the look.

Before you order

Match the model name in the listing to your hookah, and check the joint: threaded parts and ground-glass cuts are not interchangeable. With Japona stems, make sure you choose Upper or Lower. For seals, see grommets and seals, or browse Steamulation spares and Wookah spares.

Questions

Which Japona stem do I need?

Japona wood stems come as Upper and Lower sections, so check which one you are replacing. To convert a Satoshi into a Sensei, you need the Upper.

Why fit a carbon tube?

The carbon middle makes your Steamulation noticeably lighter, while the stainless steel ends keep the thread durable.

Will the Dschinni Sniper fit my hookah?

It screws on by thread and is made for shishas with an 18.8 cut, so check your hookah's connection first.
