What to stand your hookah on

A good surface under your hookah keeps it steady and protects both the glass and your table. The options run from wooden stands to silicone mats, colour-matched coasters, light-up trays and rotating bases.

Kinds of stand and mat

• Wooden stands: Wookah makes stands for its own shishas, for example the Iroko in iroko wood with a stainless steel rim, or the Nox, the darkest, with a brushed and deeply carved surface. A thin lacquer on the Iroko and Nox makes them easy to clean.
• Silicone mats: the Fumari Silicone Shisha Mat is 2.5mm food-grade silicone, about 30 x 30cm. It cushions the base against chips and cracks, adds grip on hard surfaces, and gives you a clean spot to pack your bowl.
• Coasters: the Amotion Roam Coaster is sized for the Roam, in colours such as Cobalt and Stone. Its washable PVC-silicone mix hardly takes on odours.

Which one fits?

Start with the hookah you own. Coasters and rotating bases are often made for one model, and Wookah stands are designed around Wookah shishas. A silicone mat goes under any base, so it is the easy pick if you have more than one hookah.

Wookah owners can see the shishas themselves under Wookah. For drying parts or prepping tobacco, look at hookah mats and packing boards.

Will a Wookah stand work with another brand?

The stands are made for Wookah shishas, so that is the fit they are designed for. For other hookahs, a silicone mat is the simpler choice.

How do I clean a coaster or stand?
