Meet the Runner D-Dao

Runner is a sister brand of Maklaud Hookah, one of Russia's biggest hookah makers, and it was made to have a cyberpunk, futuristic look. Its model is the D-Dao, which comes in a range of finishes, for example Blue, Red, Violet and Wire. Whichever you pick, the build underneath is the same: AISI 304 stainless steel inside.

What stands out

• Rope handle: fixed to the heart of the stem, it doubles as part of the look.
• Purge from the upper stem: the blow-off comes out of the upper part of the shisha stem.
• Triangular-blade coal tray: made of the same AISI 304 stainless steel as the internals.

Choosing your D-Dao

Start with the finish you like, as the colour is the main difference between listings. Then look at what comes in the box. Some listings come with options such as Shisha only, Lite and Pro. On the Wire, for instance, Shisha only gives you the pipe, mouthpiece, silicone hose, grommets, base, rope and diffuser, while Lite adds an Oblako bowl in a random colour and a replacement tray.

Care

After a session, rinse the stem with warm water and let it dry before you store it. Choose a bowl to match from hookah bowls, and compare the D-Dao with other Russian shishas.

Questions

Do the D-Dao colours differ in build?

No. Each finish has the same AISI 304 stainless steel internals, rope handle and triangular-blade coal tray. The colour is what changes.

Where does the D-Dao purge?

The blow-off comes out of the upper part of the stem.

Does a bowl come with the D-Dao?

It depends on the option. On listings with a Lite option, such as the Wire, Lite includes an Oblako bowl, while Shisha only does not.
