Narrowing down your shisha

At this level you can choose from pocket-sized pipes right up to tall stems. Decide where you will smoke and how many people will share, and the list gets short quickly.

By size

• Compact (under about 45cm): easy to store and carry. For example, the El-Badia P1 at 24cm has a hose winder for storage, and the El-Badia Z1 stands 34cm.
• Mid height (about 45cm to 57cm): a good everyday size for home, such as the Tsar H-One Evolution, El-Badia Onyx or MS Magma Giga.
• Tall (60cm and up): more presence on the table, like the El-Badia Octagon or MS Magma Titan at 66cm.

Features worth comparing

• Click or screw base: many shishas at this level clip or screw into the base, so there is no grommet to push and pull.
• Diffuser: a reversible or removable diffuser, as on the El-Badia C5 V2 or Octagon, lets you change how the draw feels.
• Purge: some, like the Prince Coco or the OverDozz set, have a multi-way purge for clearing stale smoke.
• What is included: contents vary. The MG Junior 1.0, for instance, comes with a bowl, hose, mouth tip and tongs, while the MS Magma Giga comes without a bowl.

How do I know if a bowl is included?

Check the 'In the box' or contents details on each shisha before you order. Some, such as the MS Magma Giga, are sold without a bowl.

What does a reversible diffuser do?

It lets you pick between two draw styles, one quieter and lighter, one closer to a traditional pull.

Can I use a heat management device on these?

Many can. Some El-Badia models, such as the C5 V2, C7 V2 and Fantom, are made to work with the Kaloud Lotus, and the Fusion comes with a Kaloud-compatible bowl.
