Purge Balls & Valves

Replacing a purge ball or valve

The purge lets you blow stale smoke out of the base. A small ball or silicone valve sits in it and stops air coming back in. If the ball goes missing, wears down or rattles loose, the draw suffers, so it is one of the most useful spares to keep.

Match the part to your shisha

  • Loose balls: for example Shishagear Polyamide Valve Balls, sold one at a time in 10mm or 12mm. Wookah makes its own balls too, such as the 12mm Ball for Wookah bodies with ground joint adapters and the Mini Ball 10mm for the Wookah Mini.
  • Full valve sets: such as the Wookah Stainless Steel Valve, with a ball and a V2A steel cap. The Wookah Mini Valve (Set) adds a grommet so the ball can't fall out, which helps when you travel.
  • Silicone valves: for example Kaloud Krysalis Umbrella Silicone Valves (18mm, pack of 2), used in the Krysalis downstem and purge. The metal rims are not included.
  • Closed chamber systems: silicone inserts that clear out stale smoke, made for named Dschinni models such as the Stealth Bomber, Clyde or Bonnie.
  • Brand spares: parts made for one hookah, like the MattPear Purge Valve for M Series or the Starbuzz Carbine Hookah Ball Bearing 360.

If you are not sure which size you have, measure the old ball, or look at the spares for your brand, such as Wookah spares, Dschinni spares or Kaloud spares.

Questions

Can I use a 12mm ball in a 10mm valve?

No. The ball needs to match the valve size, or it will either stick or let air through. Check the size in your shisha's details or measure the old ball.

Why does my purge leak air when I draw?

Usually the ball is worn, missing or dirty. Clean the valve, then fit a new ball or valve if it still leaks.
