Finding the right adapter or connector

An adapter lets two parts fit together that would not fit on their own, or replaces a small piece you have lost. Most are made for named models, so check the fit before anything else.

Kinds of adapter

• Bowl adapters change what bowl your hookah takes or hold the bowl in place. For example, the Aeon Edition 4 Plug-in Base Adapter lets plug-in bowls sit on the Edition 4, and the Kaloud Krysalis Bowl Adapter lets you use almost any bowl on a Krysalis. Others, such as the Hoob Bowl Adapter with its M15x1 thread or the Wookah Stainless Steel Bowl Port, replace the brand's own part.
• Hose connectors join the hose to the hookah. Wookah's connectors use a ground joint, so no grommet is needed, while parts like the Hoob Magnetic Ring are made for a list of Hoob models.
• Stem and base parts replace a worn or lost piece, for instance the Aeon Immersion Tube Adapter Thread for the Edition 1, 2 and 3, or base adapters for the Starbuzz Carbine and Vesper Hookah Vega.
• Draw and cooling parts change how the hookah smokes. The Aeon 7.5mm Draft Reducer narrows the hose end piece from 11mm for a tighter draw, and the Steamulation Cooling Control Adapter sends some air back up the smoke column to cool the bowl.

Glass joint sizes

Glass parts fit by the cut of the ground joint, usually 18.8 or 29.2. The Dschinni Ice Catcher Adapter, for example, turns a 29.2 cut into an 18.8 cut so you can fit an 18.8 molasses catcher. If an adapter needs a seal, look in grommets and seals; some, like the Aeon Edition 4 adapter, come without one.

Questions

How do I know which cut my smoke column has?

The cut is the size of the ground glass joint, usually 18.8 or 29.2. Your hookah's own listing or manual normally states it.

Will an adapter for one brand fit another?

Usually not. Most adapters are named for specific models, such as the Na Grani Stick and H1 or the Aeon Edition 1 to 3, so choose the one that names your hookah.
