Serpent

The dark-leaf Serpent line, in 80g packs.

Starbuzz Serpent at a glance

Serpent is Starbuzz's dark leaf line. It uses a robust, kettle-cured tobacco cut with its own texture, sold in 80g packs. Starbuzz says this dark leaf can give a strong buzz and recommends it for moderate to advanced hookah smokers.

Reading the names

Each Serpent flavour has a name and a taste in brackets, so Rogue is honeydew melon and Bohemian is a fresh gum. The bracket tells you what to expect, which makes the line easy to browse.

Flavour families

  • Mint blends: for example Crow (lemon mint), Mad Dog (grapefruit citrus mint) or Sting Mint on its own.
  • Fruit: such as Kathmandu (berry mix), Crimson Fox (peach and berry) or Shishi (blueberry banana).
  • Tea: Kings Tea pairs peach with Earl Grey, and Teabet is an English breakfast tea.
  • Sweet and spiced: for example Lioness (strawberry ice cream), Gee Spot (cinnamon vanilla) or Skull (liquorice double apple).

New to dark leaf?

Dark leaf is cured differently from blonde leaf, and Starbuzz describes Serpent as a strong blend, so it is worth knowing what you are choosing. Dark leaf usually needs a little more heat and time to warm up, so give the bowl a few minutes before judging it. A heat management device makes the heat easier to adjust. If you usually smoke a lighter blend, or are just starting out, browse the wider Starbuzz range and the full flavours list, where you can compare blonde and dark leaf blends.
