Solari makes sculptural hookahs designed in Milan. The Volare series is one design in three heights: Primadonna at 45cm, Dolcevita at 62cm and Solemio at 83cm.

Design

A crown of metal fins

The top of every Solari is a ring of fins shaped like a turbine. Blow into the handle and the smoke leaves in a circle around the crown.

Materials

Steel inside, aluminium outside

All interior pipes are stainless steel, which makes cleaning easy. The exterior parts are aluminium, shielded from the steel to prevent corrosion. Polished details sit against brushed and sandblasted surfaces, finished in a champagne gold coating.

Choosing a Solari height

Solari hookahs have an aluminium exterior with stainless steel inside. The models share one sculpted look and differ mainly in height and weight, so the first choice is how tall you want your pipe.

The models

Primadonna: 45cm tall and 4.2kg. Solari call it their lightweight travel hookah.
Dolcevita: 62cm tall and 5.5kg, a middle height that suits most tables.
Solemio: 83cm tall and 7kg, which Solari describe as their flagship.

Each has a 23cm by 23cm footprint, so the height is what changes. A heavier, taller pipe needs a sturdy table with room around it, while the Primadonna is easier to move from room to room.

Setting one up

Fill the base until the downstem sits just under the water, fit your bowl, and check every seal before you light your coals. Rinse the inside after each session so old flavour doesn't build up in the stainless steel.
