Choosing a hose mouthpiece

You hold the mouthpiece all session, so weight, length and feel count. Most fit a conventional silicone hose, though some are made for one hookah alone.

By material

• Aluminium (for example Dschinni, Manche HKY or Shishagear Aluminium): light and resistant to corrosion. Dschinni lists weights of around 53 to 55g and a non-slip feel.
• Carbon (such as the Aeon VYRO 40cm or Steamulation Carbon): low in weight. Steamulation's have an 18/8 ground joint that also slots into a spare hose port. The Cartel Zine pairs a carbon tube with resin tips.
• Glass (for example the Aeon 40cm Glass or Dschinni Flig Flag): easy to clean and doesn't hold on to old flavours. The Flig Flag is borosilicate glass 3.3.
• Wood (such as Wookah Wooden mouthpieces): solid wood around a V2A stainless steel tube, some wrapped in hand-sewn leather.
• Steel and resin (for example SERP Epoxy or the Aeon VYRO Penta Carbon Hybrid): colours and patterns can differ from the photo.
• Leather (such as the Shishagear Leather Mouthpiece): a classic feel in the hand. Wash it on the inside only.

Length and fit

Listed lengths tend to fall between about 30cm and 40cm. A long handle such as the 40cm Aeon Glass gives you more reach, while a 30cm Dschinni Ergo is handier at a small table. Dschinni lists a 1.3cm hose connection, so check it against your hose.

Some are model-specific. Alpha X pieces fit the Alpha Hookah Model X, the Moze Breeze Two piece lengthens that hookah's mouthpiece, and the Penta Hybrid is made for the VYRO Penta. The Moe's Wanted fits all Moe's hookahs and others too.

Questions

Will a mouthpiece fit my hose?

Most fit any conventional silicone hose, which is sold separately. If a connection size is listed, such as 1.3cm on Dschinni mouthpieces, check it against your hose.

Which material is easiest to clean?

Glass is easy to clean and doesn't keep the taste of old flavours. Aluminium and carbon handles that are listed as washable are simple to rinse too.

Can I change the tip on a mouthpiece?

The Manche HKY handle takes HKY tips, so you can swap the end for your own.
