Ashtrays & Coal Plates

Fitting a coal plate to your hookah

A coal plate gives hot coals and ash a safe place to rest while you smoke, so they are not sitting on the table or balanced on the bowl. Most plates and ashtrays are made for one hookah family, so start with the model you own.

Examples of how they fit

  • Screw-on kits, such as the Amotion Roam Charcoal Plate Kit: an adapter screws onto the outer thread of the Roam's downstem and the stainless steel plate rests on it. The plate is 130mm across and 11mm high.
  • Blow-off plates, such as the Aeon Vyro Mod Horizon Blow-Off Ashtray: for Vyro hookahs marked "Ready to MOD". The upper plate holds your coals, the lower plate collects the smoke, and a horizontal purge can be fitted between the sleeves. Finishes like Black PVD and Rose PVD sit alongside the standard one.
  • Sit-on plates, such as the Wookah Stainless Steel Ashtray: a thick plate of 1.4301 (V2A) stainless steel that suits either version of Wookah. The inner hole is about 15mm, and the steel is easy to wash and does not absorb smells.

Using and cleaning a plate

Move coals on and off the plate with tongs, never your fingers. Let the plate cool completely before you lift it or rinse it. A quick wash after each session stops ash building up. If you need other parts for the same hookah, look in Wookah spares or Aeon spares.

Questions

Will a coal plate fit any hookah?

Usually not. Plates are made for a particular model, such as the Amotion Roam, Aeon Vyro hookahs that are Ready to MOD, or Wookah. Check your exact hookah against the product details first.

What does the Horizon blow-off do?

It turns the coal plate into the purge point. When you clear the hookah, the smoke collects in the lower plate and leaves sideways through the horizontal purge.

Does the Wookah ashtray fit the older Wookah?

Yes. It is made to fit the older and the newer version of Wookah.
