Kaloud

Kaloud bowls and the Lotus

Kaloud's Samsaris bowls pair a silicone outer with an inner bowl of clay, ceramic, glass or aluminium. Many are shaped to lock onto a Kaloud Lotus heat management device, so the fit is secure and hard to knock off.

Samsaris families

  • Kore clay: phunnel bowls of natural clay set in high-temperature silicone, which hold heat steadily. Qi red clay is made as an all-round bowl, while Kaloud recommend Dao black clay for dark leaf and hotter set-ups. Both come short or tall, in sizes such as 15g or 30g.
  • Lapis: silicone with a high-grade ceramic inner bowl in black or white, with later versions such as the Lapis II.
  • Vitria: silicone with a glass receptacle. The Vitria III is designed for the Lotus III, and a replacement glass is made for the Vitria II if its centre gets damaged.
  • Aluminium hybrids: bowls like the Niris, Auris, Argis and Cyris pair silicone with aluminium. Kaloud note that some need less heat, while the Argis is made for fans of a higher heat.

Matching bowl and Lotus

Each bowl names the Lotus it is made for, for example Lotus I and I+, Lotus II or Lotus III, so check yours before you choose. The Kore Ceramic is different: its built-in grommet fits most standard hookahs, and it works with all Kaloud heat management devices.

Short Kore bowls get hot to the touch, so use a glove or cloth to swap them; the tall ones can be held by hand even when hot. Find the Lotus devices under heat management, spare parts in Kaloud Spares and the hookahs under Kaloud Hookah.

Questions

Which Lotus fits my Samsaris bowl?

Each bowl lists the Lotus versions it is made for, such as Lotus I and I+, Lotus II or Lotus III. Match that to the Lotus you own for a sealed fit.

What is the difference between Kore Qi and Kore Dao?

Both are clay phunnel bowls set in silicone. Qi is red clay made for every type of tobacco, while Dao is black clay that Kaloud recommend for dark leaf and hotter set-ups.

Should I choose aluminium or clay?

Aluminium passes heat quickly, and Kaloud say some of their aluminium bowls need less charcoal. Clay holds heat steadily, so choose by how you like to manage your heat.
