The Dschinni Stealth Bomber Purple Rain Hookah is a legend from the house of Dschinni and one of its best-known stainless steel shishas. The name says it all.
Its success is down to its uncompromising quality, which is rare in this price range and well beyond it, looking at the materials alone.
Not all glass is the same. Like all Dschinni shishas, it uses high borosilicate glass 3.3, the type of glass used in laboratories and space research because of its thermal properties. Dschinni uses thick-walled glass of this material, so you can wash the base out with hot water after smoking to clear all residue.
Small air bubbles in the glass cannot be completely ruled out, but they stay within a reasonable range.
For the stainless steel, Dschinni does not use a cheap alloy sold under the general name V2A. It names the grade precisely: high quality 304 stainless steel, which is reworked after cutting for an excellent surface finish.
The threads are finished so finely that they slide into one another, with no swarf or burrs to get in the way.
The Stealth Bomber has plenty of great features, such as Dschinni's own Closed Chamber System, which improves the smoking behaviour. On the one hand, it reduces the volume of the base. Together with the proportions of the dip tube and base, this makes the draw easier, gives a higher smoke density and a nice, thick white cloud when you blow out.
On the other hand, air flows in through the vertical bore without turbulence and reaches deep into the base when you purge, so all the stale smoke is blown out of the base.
There are 4 ports on the base: 2 blind plugs as placeholders, 1 hose adapter with a 14.5 joint and a blow-off valve to purge the base. The blind plugs and the blow-off valve can be swapped for other ground-joint adapters, for up to 4 hoses.
While most hookahs use 18.8 cuts, Dschinni deliberately chose 14.5, because it gives a more controlled draw. This also stops too much draught and heat hitting the tobacco itself.
Another advantage of the cut is that you no longer need old-style seals that tend to get lost. You push the hose adapter in and it sits tight, almost like a magnetic closure.
The plate has an 18.8 cut, so it slides on and off easily without threading. The standard cut means you can fit Dschinni molasses catchers with an 18.8 cut, or other decorative accessories such as the Skeleton.
It also makes changing the bowl easy. At home or in a lounge, bowls are usually prepared in the kitchen. With the 18.8 plate cut on the Stealth Bomber, you simply lift off the plate with the bowl and take it where you need it, without moving the whole hookah.
The dip tube has a removable diffuser, which you can take off if you want a classic, bubbly smoking behaviour. You can also use dip tube extensions to match the water level; otherwise, as the dip tube is shorter without the diffuser, you would need to add more water to the base.
The diffuser lowers the noise, which helps when you are watching films or just want to talk more quietly. Thanks to its larger surface area it also cools the smoke.
The water resistance is also greatly reduced, so it feels as if you are smoking with no resistance.
The Stealth Bomber is a mid-sized hookah that works well on both the floor and a table. It is easy to handle and compact, but big enough not to lose its elegance. Its smoking behaviour and handling have made it one of the most popular stainless steel shishas.

Cleaning: the borosilicate glass 3.3 base can be cleaned with boiling water. Pour boiling water into the base, swirl it well and let it rest overnight, then rinse thoroughly the next day to remove any residue. Clean the shisha regularly.
