Choosing a spare battery

Hookahs that heat with electricity rather than coal run on a rechargeable battery. A spare means one can charge while you use the other, so a long session doesn't have to stop when the charge runs low. Batteries are made for one device, so start with the model you own.

Examples by device

• XKAH Replacement Battery: a compact 13600mAh lithium-ion battery made for the XKAH Pro electric head, built for long sessions at home or on the go.
• Shii Battery S: the same battery that comes with the Shii all-in-one hookah, giving up to 120 minutes on one charge.
• Shii Battery L: the larger Shii battery, holding about 50% more than the one in the box and giving up to 180 minutes on one charge.

What to look for

Check the capacity or the run time on one charge, and decide whether you want a like-for-like spare or a bigger one. Shii batteries hot-swap: change one mid-session within 3 minutes and your settings are kept. A button on each Shii battery shows the charge level in four steps, and they are colour-matched, for example in Black or Silk Grey.
