Shii was first shown at Shisha Messe in Frankfurt in May 2026, on the XKAH stand. It is a complete hookah with electric heat built in: heater, bowl, water tank, hose and mouthpiece in one device. You do not need a separate hookah, and you do not need charcoal.
We have 50 on the way, in Black and Silk Grey, and you can put your name down for one from the product page. This guide covers what it is, how it heats, how long the battery lasts and what to watch for.
Until now, heating shisha electrically meant buying a head such as the XKAH Pro or XKAH Lite and fitting it to a hookah you already had. Shii is different. It replaces the whole set-up: one device on the table, and you are ready.
That makes it a good fit if you like the idea of shisha without charcoal but do not own a hookah yet, or if you want something that looks at home in a living room. Shii's makers describe it as the first of its kind where you do not have to choose between smart and beautiful.
It is not a rival to XKAH. The brand comes from XKAH's Russian distributor, and the heating plate is the one used in the XKAH Pro. The bowls and tongs are shared with XKAH too, so if you already own one, your spares fit.
The heater sits above the bowl, exactly where the charcoal would sit on a classic hookah. It uses two kinds of heat together: contact heat from the plate and convection heat from the air drawn through it.
You set the heat with a ring on the body, in 11 levels of 5°C from 265°C to 315°C. A ring of light shows the level by colour: white at the lowest, orange in the middle, dark red at the top. The top level heats harder than the number suggests, which is there for very strong dark tobaccos.
There are two ways to use it:
You can move between the two at any time. Auto keeps working in the background, so if you take over for twenty minutes and then switch back, it carries on from where it would have been.
Standard pre-heat suits most tobaccos. The stronger pre-heat is for dark blends that need a lot of heat to get going. It takes the same time but starts much hotter. Keep it for strong tobaccos: a light blend can burn quickly on that setting.
Pre-heating takes about 8 minutes and the device beeps when it is ready. A session then runs for 50 minutes. If there is life left in the bowl, you can start again in seconds without pre-heating.
The battery is held by magnets and can be changed mid-session. When it runs low, Shii warns you, and you have three minutes to swap it without losing your settings.
At home you can run Shii from the mains with the 3 metre USB-C cable. Two things to know: the power adapter is not included, and it needs to be a certified 65W USB-C Power Delivery adapter. A battery with at least 15% charge must also be fitted. With a 65W adapter the battery charges in about 100 minutes.
Spare batteries: Battery S and Battery L, each in both colours. Either battery fits either colour of Shii.
Shii comes with two reusable stainless steel bowls. They are an open system: any brand of shisha tobacco, light or dark. A session uses about 10g, around half of what a traditional bowl takes.
They are the same bowls used in the XKAH Pro and XKAH Lite, and they can go in the dishwasher. A spare pack of two lets you keep a second flavour ready.
The bowls go in the dishwasher and the silicone bowl holder lifts out. The one thing to take care over is water: when you rinse the device, keep water away from the electrical contacts.
